Joe O’Dwyer is Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer. He has over 25 years experience in the investment industry in both stockbroking and fund management. He joined Merrion Investment Managers from NCB Stockbrokers where he headed up the European Equity sales function. Prior to that he was investment manager with Smurfit Paribas Bank.
Brian Hall is Finance Director at Merrion Investment Managers Limited, with responsibility for finance and investment administration. After graduating with an M.A. in Economics from UCD, he worked with Ernst & Young and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1995. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and a director of the Irish Association of Investment Managers. He joined Merrion Investment Managers in 1998.
Kevin Gallacher is a Director at Merrion Investment Managers. Kevin has over 20 years investment experience gained with global investment management firms including AEGON, AXA and Russell Investments. He joined Montgomery Oppenheim (now Merrion Investment Managers) in 2001 and was Joint Managing Director of the firm from 2004 - 2009 prior to focusing on developing Merrion Investment Managers' alternative investment business overseas and launching the Merrion European Absolute Return Fund in 2010. Kevin has an MA (Hons) in English from Aberdeen University and an MSc in Investment Analysis from Stirling University. He is an Associate of the CFA Society of the UK and a Fellow of the UK Chartered Institute of Marketing. He is a Director of Merrion Capital Investment Managers Limited and Merrion Capital Investment Funds plc
Pearse MacManus is Head of Fixed Income. He has 18 years experience in the investment industry predominantly in fixed income fund management. He joined Merrion Investment Managers from GE Re Management Services where he headed up the investment team. He has a BA in Economics from Trinity College.
Seamus Kelly is an Investment Manager with 14 years investment experience. He joined Merrion Investment Managers in April 2009 from Goodbody Alternative Investment Managers and Focus Investments. Prior to this Seamus was an equity Portfolio Manager with Oppenheim Investment Managers for seven years. He holds a BBS Economics and Finance from the University of Limerick, an MSc. in Investment & Treasury from Dublin City University and is a member of the UK Society of Technical Analysts.
David Conlon is a Portfolio Manager. He has 14 years investment experience most recently as senior equity fund manager with Anglo Irish Bank. He joined Merrion Investment Managers in March 2011 having previously worked as a senior equity analyst at Merrion Capital Group and NCB. David has a first class honours degree in Actuarial and Financial Studies from UCD and is a CFA Charter Holder.
Kade Beasley is an Investment Analyst. Kade has over 18 years banking and finance experience. Before joining Merrion Investment Managers in 1999, Kade worked for 5 years in International Trade Services with the National Bank of Australia, Melbourne. Kade recently completed The Institute of Bankers in Ireland, Specialist Certificate in Mutual Fund Services.
Michael Nicol is a portfolio manager. Michael has over 25 years investment experience as a UK and European equity analyst and portfolio manager. He began his career at the Edinburgh Investment Trust in 1982 and subsequently helped set up the Dunedin Fund Managers European equity team. He joined Pimco Advisers backed start-up Blairlogie in 1993. In 1998, he joined SVM and was co-manager of the SVM Highlander Equity Long Short Fund from inception in April 1999. During Michael's time at SVM, assets in the Highlander Fund grew from €10 million to over €600 million. He subsequently managed equity long short portfolios at Martin Currie, Glasgow Investment Managers and Pengana Capital before joining Merrion Investment Managers in April 2010. He has a BA in Business Studies from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen.
Alistair MacDonald is a portfolio manager. Alistair has over 25 years investment experience as a UK, European and Far East equity analyst and portfolio manager. He began his career in corporate finance with Noble and Company before working in fund management with Dunedin Fund Managers and Ivory & Sime in Edinburgh. He then worked in Australia with First State as Senior Investment Manager, during a period when international assets grew from A 20 million to over A 2 billion, and latterly with Perennial Investment Partners as Head of European Equities. He returned to the UK and managed an equity long short strategy with Michael Nicol at Pengana Capital before joining Merrion Investment Managers in April 2010. He has a BA in Business Studies and an MBA from Edinburgh University.
Conor McCarthy is a Senior Investment Analyst. He is an engineering graduate of University College Dublin, with over thirty years experience in the telecommunications industry, both in Ireland and abroad. This included ten years with AT&T. He completed an Investment Analysis course at McGill University, Montreal, and has published an investment newsletter for Technology stocks for over thirteen years.
Darren Freemantle is a Portfolio Manager. He began his career as a software engineer at GEC Marconi Avionics before moving to Lloyd’s of London as business systems analyst. Previously, he was at Steria, a pan-European IT service provider, where he held various positions in business development and consultancy. He holds an HND in Software Engineering from Mid-Kent College, England and a Masters in Finance from the National College of Ireland. He has spent more than twelve years in the IT industry.
Alex Kinsella is Head of Client Service. He has 12 years experience in investment management. Before joining Merrion Investment Managers in July 2005, he worked for Irish Life Investment Managers. Alex holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Physics from NUI Maynooth.
Deirdre Clerkin is Sales and Marketing Manager. Before joining Merrion Investment Managers in January 2002, she worked for J.P. Morgan Investment Management in London. Deirdre has a first class honours degree in International Marketing and Languages from DCU (1996) and an Investment Management Certificate. Deirdre is an active member of the IAPF and the American, German and Dublin Chambers of Commerce. Deirdre also sits on the Council of the Irish Management Institute.
